“Normally we do not like to think about death.
We would rather think about life.
Why reflect on death?
When you start preparing for death you soon realize
that you must look into your life now… and come to face the truth of your self.
Death is like a mirror in which the true meaning of life is reflected.” ~ Sogyal Rinpoche ~
Looking at life through the lens of death is the process and journey of one who is about to look deeply into the core of the soul.
How fearful it first seems to look so completely inward. How fearful it first seems to look into the deep and dark places of the unknown. How fearful it first seems to face the truth before you.
Though… do not let this fear stop you, for it is only fear at first. Before you stands the fierce and fiery dragons, placed there to protect and guard the great gates against those who are not yet ready to enter therein.
But… if you are ready, I mean… really ready for the journey, dare to be as a victor! Declare your readiness with bold conviction as you bravely venture forth and within. Prevail against all fear until those gates have no choice but to open wide before you, allowing you to finally receive the pure truth of the infinitely precious treasure that awaits. There… beyond all your fears… is the treasure that is your most authentic self!!
amazing post.
Beautiful and profound. To meditate upon death is also like a frame around the mirror which helps us to focus on the reality of our lives and separate out the extraneous.
