Familiar Scents of Our Departed

Our departed loved ones often use familiar scents as a way to communicate their presence in after-death communications. The difference it makes can be huge.
Joyce wrote:
“Last night while I was at work, I was doing walking rounds every 30 minutes in the facility. My administrator had explained extra rounds needed to be made due to some technical issues and I said, “Sure, no problem.”
“Well, I have always been a little uneasy with “Green Mile” the nursing wing that is not being used. That was the area I was walking around my whole shift.”
“Around 2am the CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant), who was willing to tag-a-long with me said, “Do you smell that? It smells like soap!” To which I replied, “That smells like Irish Spring soap, doesn’t it?! She then asked me, “How do you instantly know what that smell is?
“Because Gordon’s favorite soap was Irish Spring!” “He’s still here. He’s around you, Joyce. He knows you’re sad and miserable. He’s sticking around because he’s worried about you.” “I’m telling you, that smell of Irish spring almost brought me to my knees.”
The smell of roses

Commentary- The sudden smell of roses is said to indicate the presence of angels. Whereas, some claim there is a particularly bad smell associated with dark spirits. True or not, when we notice a scent that is unusual in the moment and/or there is no explanation as to its origin, it truly does make one wonder.

Joyce’s case is pretty clear cut. For instance, if a departed loved one wants to get our attention, they will do something that will get our attention. Joyce was asked to walk rounds in the unused medical wing. Now being unused, it would be very quiet with almost no distractions. That’s a great place to get someone’s attention.
Next, Joyce was joined by a medical assistant on her rounds. Now, this not only increased the chance that Joyce’s anomaly doesn’t go unnoticed, but serves as a witness to the strong scent that was difficult to miss.
When the assistant noticed the scent, immediately it was registered in her awareness of something that did not make sense, given that they were there, alone. While we are busy at work, thinking, doing tasks, we might vaguely notice something low on our radar, but because we are preoccupied, our brains drop the issue as unimportant, out of the necessity of priority.
However, on this occasion, it was early in the morning and in those vacant halls, while their guard was down, it was easier to detect the anomaly. Joyce’s beloved, used this moment to get her attention. The assistant was there to make sure it was recognized and validated as the shout out that it was.
It is also common that the scent is something that relates directly to the one who is sending it. It could have been the smell of a cigar, grandma’s face cream or the scent of a favorite dish mother used to make.
Irish Spring was a dead give-a-way as Gordon’s scent because it was thoroughly associated with his favorite soap. And yes. Absolutely, he was successful in getting her attention. But not only that. He wanted to share his love and concern for her by revealing that he is still with her.
